Background
A significant number of Sindhis have been settled in the UK for over three decades. Despite their longstanding presence, there has been a lack of a dedicated platform to share skills, expertise, and cultural identity. Sindhi Sangat United Kingdom (SSUK) was established to address this need — serving as a social and cultural platform aimed at uniting and empowering the Sindhi community in the UK.
Vision & Mission
SSUK envisions a prosperous, flourishing, and peaceful Sindhi community in the UK. Its mission is to provide a social and cultural platform that enables Sindhis to utilize their experience, skills, and expertise for the collective development of the community. Through strong networking, advocacy, and capacity building, SSUK aims to foster self-sufficiency and sustainable development within the community.
Objectives
Unite all Sindhis living in the UK.
Promote Sindhi culture and language to preserve Sindhi heritage.
Raise awareness of social issues affecting the Sindhi community.
Encourage sustainable, participatory, and integrated development through resource mobilization.
Strengthen and support Sindhi-oriented institutions and human resources across various sectors.
Community
Since 2004, SSUK has organized large-scale social, cultural, and musical events attended by over 300 families from across the UK. Distinguished guests have included Members of Parliament, Lord Mayors, the Pakistani Consulate General, Police and Crime Commissioners, and other dignitaries. Renowned Sindhi singers such as Sadique Fakir, Humera Channa, and Arshad Mahmood have performed at these events.
These events are free of charge to promote Sindh's ancient civilization, culture, and music internationally. SSUK also hosts annual Eid gatherings and celebrates cultural occasions such as Jashan-e-Latif and Sindhi Cultural Days (Ajrak and Topi).
SSUK plays a pivotal role in organizing guest speakers for "Sindhi Mahfil," a widely viewed Sindhi musical program aired on DM Digital TV, hosted by Dr. Shabir Ahmed Rahujo. It has also led flood relief fundraising, supported funerals, and repatriated deceased community members to Sindh.
The organization works closely with other UK-based Sindhi groups including the Sindh Doctors Association (SDA), World Sindhi Congress (WSC), International Sindhi Women Organisation (ISWO), and Radio Voice of Sindh (RVOS), fostering collaboration for mutual benefit.
SSUK aspires to establish a Sindhi Community Centre in the UK and advocates for a 24-hour independent Sindhi television channel to further promote its mission and serve the community effectively.
